A Look Back On The Year

With 2019 being Lamp’s 30th year, we have had many fantastic achievements to celebrate. See our timeline below to show what we have been up to this year:

January: We Launched our 30 Acts of Kindness initiative, with over 50 businesses getting involved!

February: Apart of our #Lamp30Acts, we held a fashion show at the Marriott Hotel in Leicester to get members of the community involved.

March: Although we lost the IMHA Contract, we aimed to begin to deliver services more so in the county and was successful in securing funding for expanding carers advocacy.

April: We closed our doors to restructure our offices, which enabled us to focus on delivering our services to the highest level.

May: We reduced our health advocacy waiting list to zero, which allowed us to offer immediate access to our services.

June: Kwoklyn Wan, Leicester based Chinese Restaurateur and Chef became our Ambassador! We also launched our quarterly newsletter in June that features updates, news and information on Lamp.

July: We took on more volunteers to help us in a variety of areas.

August: We set up a partnership between Lamp and Voice Ability  to provide advocacy to both our staff and peer advocates.

September: We partnered up with Glitterbug who host Burlesque events, to raise money for Lamp, and to support body positivity.

October: For World Mental Health Day, we attended an array of events! Our Head of Advocacy and Support went to Leicester Train Station for their annual ‘R U OK?’ initiative, we went to David Lloyd Narborough, along with one of our carers to raise awareness of mental health, and as a way of showing solidarity with those experiencing a mental health issue, we wore our pyjamas to work, with Hinckley and Rugby Building Society, Dodds Solicitors, Hollingsworth Solicitors, and Ranjit Thaliwal of Thaliwal and Veja Solicitors getting involved to show their support!

November: The newly acquired QPM certificate will continue to allow us to provide an excellent service! We also celebrated our 30th year and our 30 Acts of Kindness initiative with an awards evening and Black Tie Gala was a success, with an array of local businesses and individuals in attendance.

December: Planning has been a focus for us for next year with a look at service provisions and fundraising.

We are so thankful for all of the support that we have received this year, and we are ecstatic to have been able to celebrate our 30th year during such an eventful year!

We very much look forward to 2020, and look forward to continuing to break the stigma around mental health!
