One in four people are affected by poor mental health and suicide is the biggest killer of men under 49, so your support will literally change lives
In selecting Lamp as your Charity of the Year, you are supporting a local charity, helping local people, and supporting your Corporate Social Responsibility. You would be setting a fantastic example by demonstrating your support for mental health awareness within our community, and ensuring that those living locally have access to the support that they need. In return, Lamp will work with you to ensure that mental health is your focus for the year. We want to use this partnership to guarantee that mental health continues to be spoken about, both in and out of the workplace.
17.9 million working days lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2019/20
In 2018, there were 595,000 cases of work related stress, depression or anxiety in the UK leading to 15.4 million working days lost
Looking at the root causes and taking action to prevent mental injury, is often never looked at in business.
Yet according to Deloitte poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45 billion a year.
Of which £29 billion is thought to relate to presenteeism
In recent years, mental health awareness has grown substantially. Through television ads, newspaper articles, social media posts and most importantly, in every day conversation, mental health has become a topic that has everyone’s attention – and rightly so.
The statistic of 1 in 4 individuals experiencing a mental health issue, is shared far and wide. This statistic, specifically in the Leicester area, equates to around 250,000 individuals that have been diagnosed with a mental health issue.
Awareness of mental health allows charities like ours to support our community, especially those who are most in need of the services we offer. But, without the support, we are unable to provide the information and services that are so desperately needed.
This is where you come in – As a small local charity, working together with companies and organisations who operate in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland enables us to reach those who live and work in these areas. It would allow us to help companies introduce measures and understanding around managing mental health in the workplace, which currently, is heavily enshrined in stigma and taboo.
