Leicestershire Police Women’s Inclusive Network support new Lamp projects

Leicestershire mental health advocacy charity, Lamp Charity, would like to say a big thank you to the Leicestershire Police Women’s Inclusive Network for selecting them as charity of the year 2023/24.

The Women’s Inclusive Network raised £2332 over the course of the year through the WIN Conference, a Christmas Elf Run, and two Keeping in Touch (KIT) days held at headquarters, which are facilitated to help officers and staff keep in contact with the force whilst on parental leave.

Women’s Inclusive Network secretary Jane Cooper said; “The WIN Committee chooses an annual charity and on this occasion we decided to choose LAMP as not only does the work of this charity benefit everyone in the Community, but it is also a charity that has been key in providing much needed help and support to members of Leicestershire Police. By raising money at these events, we hope that it will go some way in helping shape the future work provided by LAMP.”

Liam Deacy, LAMP’s Chief Operating Officer, said “We are extremely grateful to the Women’s Inclusive Network and Leicestershire Police Force for selecting us as their charity of the year and raising such a commendable amount.

Without support from networks such as WIN, our advocates would not be able to continue to deliver their essential services within the community, providing guidance and support to those struggling with mental health, so again we are deeply grateful.”

Liam went on to say “LAMP will be using the funds raised to increase the amount of support in areas that are currently underrepresented. We will be funding projects providing advocacy and mental health support to those that need it in ethnic minority communities, university leavers struggling to transition away from the education system and members of the LGBTQ+ community. We will also be focusing on increasing support and visibility for those in the community with neurodiversity and disabilities”.
