Knighton Christmas Tree Festival raises £2,277 for Lamp!
The Knighton Christmas Tree Festival took place in December at St Mary’s Church in Brinsmead Road, Leicester and raised a fantastic £2,277 for Lamp.
The Knighton Christmas Tree Festival is an annual event hosted by St Mary’s Church. The event is an opportunity for local groups, schools, organisations and charities, along with individuals and families, to celebrate the season by decorating and displaying a tree, see all of the trees and join in the festivities, have some cake/coffee. There was a choir, a raffle where people could win some big hampers, and also a family activity of spotting birds around the church and on the trees. On the Lamp tree, people were asked to write a positive message, something for which they were grateful or a note of hope for the festive period for all to read.
The event raised a total of £4,554 and half of it was donated to Lamp, as the Festival’s charity of the year, whilst the other half went towards the church’s community garden project.
Lamp’s Corporate and Community Engagement Manager, Matthew Barton, met with members of the Festival committee to collect the cheque.
Matthew said:
“We were delighted to be chosen as the Festival’s charity of the year and are blown away by the amount the event raised! We’re truly grateful for the support and the money will make a big difference to those needing mental health support.”
