Lamp selected as one of 12 Leicestershire charities set to benefit from festive fundraiser
Lamp (Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project) has been selected as one of the 12 local charities set to benefit from this year’s Winter Gardens fundraising campaign. The campaign is a fundraising charity initiative by Oldman and Sons therapeutic gardening company, aiming to support good causes throughout Leicestershire.
To make a donation to the Winter Gardens campaign, supporters simply need to spot the campaign posters located in shops, cafes and various other venues around Leicestershire, and scan the QR code of their chosen charity. They will then be directed to a page where they can make their donation.
Visitors to the Clarendon Park Christmas Fair on 5 December will also be able to drop by the Oldman and Sons’ stall to learn more about the campaign whilst enjoying their Christmas-themed arts and crafts activities. The inaugural campaign raised a total of £300 for Lamp last year.
Sam Oldman, the owner of Oldman and Sons said:
“Oldman and Sons intends to continue heading up community garden and horticultural projects that can make a real difference to people. When we set up the Winter Gardens campaign, the idea behind it was to support various charities and to make a positive impact on our local community.
“The work carried out by Lamp is of vital importance to the people in our area and we are delighted to be able to provide the charity with some financial support from the Winter Gardens campaign. We know it will be money well spent, but more importantly, it will enable Lamp to continue the good work it does in mental health advocacy.”
Richard Kotulecki, Lamp’s CEO said,
“We are grateful to Oldman and Sons for their continued support. We applaud Oldman and Sons for its generosity and look forward to working closely with Sam and his team.”
Oldman and Sons specialises in therapeutic gardening which uses gardening tasks and the garden itself to improve physical and mental health, as well as communication and thinking skills. Earlier this year, the company created a peace garden for Lamp which serves as a safe and tranquil outdoor area for the charity’s advocates to meet with clients and speak about mental health.
All funds raised from this appeal will go towards 12 charities including Lamp, Menphys, Hope Against Cancer, the Bodie Hodges Foundation, Leicester South Foodbank, Home Start Horizons, City of Sanctuary, One Roof Leicester, Pedestrian, LOROS, Leicestershire Cares, Together We Can, and Age UK.
