Live music festival in Loughborough to raise funds for Lamp
The Rock On Wood live music festival will return to the White Hart Pub in Loughborough this summer from 21-23 July 2023, bringing the best local bands from around Loughborough together for a weekend of live music to support mental health in the community.
The free music festival will, for the second year running, raise money for Leicestershire-based mental health charity, Lamp. Last year, the festival raised £850 for Lamp.
The event is organised entirely by volunteers and some of the staff from Lamp will be at this year’s festival so attending music lovers can find out more about the charity and the work it does to support people with mental health issues.
Bands showcasing their talents at the festival this year include Union State Hands, Heather McDowall, Baker & Crane, Talking With Ghosts, Dreadnought and F’uke Fighters.
Tom Lakesman, Rock On Wood organiser, said:
“Mental health issues affect so many individuals in our community, and we want to support Lamp’s efforts to provide vital services that help people manage their conditions and improve their quality of life. By supporting Lamp, we hope to raise awareness about mental health and encourage our community to come together in support of those who may be struggling.”
Matt Barton, Corporate and Community Engagement Manager for Lamp, added:
“This event is a great weekend for all fans of live music – and it’s free! We will be asking for donations and hope that people learn more about Lamp and spread the word about our advocacy work. Lamp empowers people to speak up and access the right mental health support. We hope that this event empowers people to have those important conversations amongst friends and family, and encourages everyone to speak up and reach out when struggling.”
